Helena was one of the winners at the West Midlands regional final of the National Apprenticeship Awards 2017.
Helena was announced the winner of the Apprenticeship Champion of the Year.
The Awards, now in their fourteenth year, are run by the National Apprenticeship Service and recognise excellence in two areas: businesses that grow their own talent with apprentices and apprentices who have made a significant contribution to their workplaces.
On being announced as winner, Helena said:
I have championed Apprenticeships for over 20 years but over the last 6 years I have spent time promoting within schools and parents. Winning the Regional Champion Award and being in the presence of all of the Fantastic Apprenticeship Winners gives me more inspiration to continue to spread the word about Apprenticeships.
It is amazing to be recognised for Promoting Apprenticeships especially within schools as I am passionate about supporting Careers Advice and Guidance specifically around Apprenticeships, ensuring every young person hears about the opportunities available.
Helena won the award in recognition of the contribution she has made to Apprenticeships.
Through her work at Worcestershire Apprenticeships she has spoken to over 13,000 young people in Assemblies and Apprenticeship Workshops and attending Parents Evenings in Schools so they were supported throughout the process.
Sue Husband, Director of the National Apprenticeship Service, said:
“The National Apprenticeship Awards allow talented apprentices and committed employers from across our regions to receive well-deserved recognition for their apprenticeship achievements.
“Winners recognised at these awards show the range of sectors and variety of job roles apprenticeships are available in, and how they can deliver the skills employers need. I congratulate all winners on their success so far and the very best of luck in the next stage of the competition.”
