The Apprenticeship Levy

The new apprenticeship levy was introduced in April 2017 to increase the number and quality of apprenticeships. The levy will affect all UK employers with an annual pay bill of £3 million or more.

The Apprenticeship Service

If you are a levy-paying employer you will need to create an account  for the apprenticeship service. By creating your account employers will be able to:

  • receive levy funds to spend on apprenticeships
  • manage apprentices
  • pay training providers
  • stop or pause payments

More information and guidance to help employers register for the apprenticeship service can be found here.

Employers who are not paying the levy will not be able to register for the apprenticeship service until at least 2018. Guidance for non-levy paying employers can be found here.
